Late Adolescent Risk-Taking: Effects of Perceived Benefits and Perceived Risks on Behavioral Intentions and Behavioral Change.
Parsons, Jeffrey T.; Siegel, Alexander W.; Cousins, Jennifer H.
Journal of Adolescence, v20 n4 p381-92 Aug 1997
Collected data from 187 college students to assess both the predictive utility of perceived benefits and risks of risk-taking behaviors (RTBs) on behavioral intentions and behavioral change. Results indicate that perceived benefits accounted for significant variance in behavioral intentions and are better determinants of behavior change for RTBs than are perceived risks. (RJM)
