This study examined the relationship of 28 middle-class Caucasian mothers' attitudes to their intellectually gifted preschool children's perceived competence. Focus was on independence and strictness, maternal concerns, and relationship to support networks (perceived helpfulness of the network, willingness to seek help, and amount of contact the child had with network members) as parental correlates to perceptions of competence.
