Assessing versus Assisting: The Supervisor's Roles in the Complex Dynamics of the Student Teaching Triad.
Slick, Susan K.
Teaching and Teacher Education, v13 n7 p713-26 Oct 1997
This study examined the nature of a university supervisor's role during student teaching, highlighting issues shaping roles and relationships. Data from meetings, conferences, informal discussions, and interviews with the cooperating teacher, student teacher, and supervisor indicated there were tensions related to the supervisor's dual role in assessing and assisting that caused her to change positions frequently.
