It's the Curriculum, Stupid; In Union City, N.J., We remade Our Schools before Adding Technology.
Carrigg, Fred; Ramella, Gary
Electronic Learning, v16 n1 p56-57 Sep 1996
Describes how a school district in the mostly poor or working class Union City, New Jersey "remade" its schools before integrating technology. They adopted a whole-language approach, which facilitated other changes: replacement of old texts with classroom libraries of authentic literature; interdisciplinary scheduling; removal of pullout services; and cooperative learning. A five-year plan set the stage for computer integration. (AEF)
