The Interrupted Managerial Career Path: A Longitudinal Study of MBAs.
Schneer, Joy A.; Reitman, Frieda
Journal of Vocational Behavior, v51 n3 p411-34 Dec 1997
From a sample of 925 business administration graduates in 1987 and 676 in 1993, data from 513 employed full time at both periods were analyzed. Early career gaps had negative effects on employment level and income; midcareer gaps negatively affected women only. However, those with discontinuous employment histories did not have diminished career satisfaction. (SK)
