The Fall of the House of Tenure.
Ruffins, Paul
Black Issues in Higher Education, v14 n7 p19-26 Oct 16 1997
Despite its longevity, pressures from outside and within academe are beginning to change the system of tenure for college faculty. Increased focus on research as a criterion for faculty evaluation and tenure puts minority and female faculty at a particular disadvantage because of their commitment to teaching, service, mentoring student, and community work. Critics see the system as counterproductive. (MSE)
