Roskos-Ewoldsen, David R.
Human Communication Research, v24 n1 p31-63 Sep 1997
Explores whether individuals have implicit theories of persuasion. Examines how persuasive strategies are cognitively represented--identifies types of tactics in attitude change and social acceptability of persuasive strategies. Finds implicit theories of persuasion reflect the audience's familiarity with the topic. Finds also that implicit theories were demonstrated to be sensitive to the topic-relevant knowledge of the communicator. (PA)
