The Relationship between Self-Beliefs, Academic Background, and Achievement of Adolescent Asian-American Students.
House, J. Daniel
Child Study Journal, v27 n2 p95-110 1997
Investigated efficacy of initial attitudes, parental characteristics, and prior education as predictors of Asian-American adolescents' academic achievement in postsecondary education. Found that academic self-concept and achievement expectancies predicted students' grades. Academic preparation was significantly correlated with first-year postsecondary achievement. Students with greater academic preparation tended to have parents with higher educational attainment than students with less preparation. (Author)
