Racial and Social Class Prevalence of Psychopathology among School-Age Youth in the United States.
McDermott, Paul A.; Spencer, Margaret Beale
Youth & Society, v28 n4 p387-414 Jun 1997
Assesses the relative base rates of common forms of youth psychopathology among 1,400 children, preadolescent, and adolescent Whites, African Americans, Hispanics, and rarer minorities across social classes as defined by parent education levels. Findings include data showing most psychopathology being distributed proportionately across race and class. Patterns displayed by maladjusted Whites were not uniformly common among minorities. (GR)
