Offers a description of three prominent pedagogical approaches observed in freshman English teaching assistants (TAs): expressivism, formalism/mimeticism, and rhetoricism. Finds that, although a teacher may teach from all perspectives, usually one is emphasized. Studies and presents examples of each type.
