The Relative Effectiveness of Learning Options in Multimedia Computer-Based Fifth-Grade Spelling Instruction.
Cates, Ward Mitchell; Goodling, Susan C.
Educational Technology Research and Development, v45 n2 p27-46 1997
A study of 38 fifth-grade students investigated the effectiveness of two interactive multimedia instructional spelling programs, one offering behaviorist-visual learning options and the other offering cognitivist-phonological learning options. Both groups showed increased spelling ability, though neither program outperformed the other, suggesting computer-based spelling instruction can be an effective instructional tool.
