Academic Medicine Concerns of Basic Science and Clinical Departments: Using the Nominal Group Technique in Preparation for Strategic Planning.
Elam, Carol L.; And Others
Higher Education Management, v9 n1 p105-16 Mar 1997
A study investigated whether one medical school's basic science and clinical departments attached differential importance to academic missions of teaching, research, and clinical service. Data from departmental meetings, analyzed using nominal group technique, indicated departments expressed concern differently about administration, research, education, and clinical care issues. Information gained was useful in identifying faculty concerns, but difficult to translate into institutional priorities. (Author/MSE)
