Becoming Science Teachers: An Evaluation of the Initial Stages of Primary Teacher Training.
Parker, Joan; Spink, Elaine
Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education, v22 n1 p17-31 Mar 1997
A three-year study explored the development of elementary teacher trainees' attitudes toward the teaching and learning of science during the early stages of their professional education. Questionnaires and reflective writing revealed attitude development and the impact of coursework and teaching practice. A dichotomy between expectation and experience emerged. Implications for teacher education and for school-college cooperation are examined. (Author/MSE)
