Negotiating "Us" and "Them": Children's Constructions of Collective Identity.

Surveyed English, German, and Turkish children to discover transnational elements in Western European children's constructions of collective identity and in their conceptions of "us" and "them." Found that a complex web of factors is involved in children's beliefs about being the same versus being foreign, and that actual national origin is only one of many factors. (EV)
