What To Say to Bereaved Parents.
Armstrong, Coleen
Principal, v76 n3 p34-36 Jan 1997
When a student or former student dies, the principal should offer more than condolences. Principals can avoid feeling awkward or tongue-tied at the child's funeral by doing some homework (recalling memorable moments with the child); asking teachers for shared memories; considering a home visit, personal note, or phone call; and talking about the child with parents. A sidebar provides crisis management tips. (MLH)
