Study of National Incoming Supply and Demand for Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers and Extension Educators.
Miller, Stephanie Hotta; Meszaros, Peggy S.
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v88 n1 p51-54 Spr 1996
A 1993 survey of 171 deans/department chairs (100% response) indicated that 27 family and consumer sciences undergraduate programs had been eliminated. Total undergraduate enrollment was 2,088, but nationwide demand for teachers was 7,903 and for extension professionals was 1,165. Only two states (Utah, Washington) had slightly higher supply; most anticipated a teacher shortage. (SK)
