A Comparative Study of Personality Descriptors Attributed to the Deaf, the Blind, and Individuals with No Sensory Disability.
Cambra, Cristina
American Annals of the Deaf, v141 n1 p24-28 Mar 1996
University students (N=222) evaluated personality descriptors as applied to people with deafness, blindness, or no sensory disability. Two general stereotypes of the deaf emerged: that of general nonsociability and that of limited intelligence. However, students who already knew a deaf person assigned the deaf more positive personality descriptors. (DB)
