Does Self-Disclosure in Friendship Increase Following Group Counseling/Therapy? A Different Case for Boys and Girls.
Shechtman, Zipora; Vurembrand, Neomi
Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, v35 n1-2 p123-30 Jul 1996
Investigated the effect of group counseling/therapy on self-disclosure in a close friendship of elementary school boys and girls. Results show girls were more forthcoming with self-disclosure sharing, and the sharing was more meaningful and private. Interestingly, only girls responded to intervention by increasing their ability to share meaningful information, whereas boys did not. (GR)
