Relationships between Parent-Child Relational Variables and Child Test Variables in Highly Stressed Urban Families.
Fagen, Douglas; And Others
Child Study Journal, v26 n2 p87-108 Sep 1996
Examined relationships between aspects of the parent-child relationship and responses on adjustment-related measures for 131 highly stressed inner-city fourth through sixth graders. Found that relationships between parent-relational and child-test indicators were modest overall. The strongest parent predictor variable was parent attitudes, which correlated with child's self-rated adjustment, perceived competence, and locus of control. (HTH)
