A Comparison of the Semantic Values of Middle Cornish "Luf" and "Dorn" with Modern English "Hand" and "Fist".
Mills, Jon
Language Sciences, v18 n1-2 p71-86 Jan-Apr 1996
Presents a corpus-based analysis of two lexical items: Modern English "hand" and "fist" and their Middle Cornish equivalents, resulting in discovering semantic and collocational differences between the corresponding lexemes in these two languages. The article argues that grammatical meaning may form part of the lexical meaning of an item and be expressed as a semantic component of that lexical meaning. (18 references) (Author/CK)
