Lack of a clearly defined role and engagement in quasi-administrative tasks outside their training create overwhelming stress for professional school counselors. As the school counselor's future role changes to include teaching, community outreach, group work, and resource-management responsibilities, principals can help by enhancing understanding of their skills and supporting counseling program needs.
