Influences on Students during Their Early Fieldwork Placements.

Interviews, observations, and journal analysis of four occupational therapy students in fieldwork placements identified four influences: therapist, environment, clients, and time. The role of onsite therapists was crucial in early fieldwork. A medical focus tended to split practice with clients with physical disabilities from those with psychosocial dysfunction. Pacing had an important impact on fieldwork. (SK)
