Suggestions are made for confronting an academic colleague suspected of unethical conduct, including objective determination of the specific ethical violation, assessing evidence, examining motivations, consulting with trusted colleagues, scheduling a conference, using a nonthreatening manner, setting the tone for constructive interaction, protecting confidences, and using a "teammate" approach to discussion.
