Prayer, Luck, and Spiritual Strength: The Desecularization of Entrance Examination Systems in East Asia.
Zeng, Kangmin
Comparative Education Review, v40 n3 p264-79 Aug 1996

Japanese students leave donations and written prayers and promises to the gods at Shinto shrines specifically dedicated to academic success. (SV)
