Bowl versus Playoffs: The Impact on Football Player Graduation Rates in the National Collegiate Athletics Association.
Amato, Louis; And Others
Economics of Education Review, v15 n2 p187-96 Apr 1996
Investigates determinants of football player graduation rates at two National Collegiate Athletic Association division levels. At the major level (NCAA Division I-A), football success appears to substitute for classroom success. At the NCAA Division I-AA level, there is no relationship between football success and academic success. A playoff system should supplant the present bowl system. (18 references) (MLH)
