Drop Your Tools: An Allegory for Organizational Studies.
Weick, Karl E.
Administrative Science Quarterly, v41 n2 p301-13 Jun 1996
Ponders the failure of 27 wildland firefighters to drop their tools and outrun an exploding fire, using explanations developed by James D. Thompson, first editor of "Administrative Science Quarterly." Organization scholars are in analogous threatened positions; they too seem to be keeping their heavy tools and falling behind. Reaffirming Thompson's guidelines should remedy this situation. (36 references) (MLH)
