The Management of Universities: A Dilemma of Values.
Bone, Tom
International Journal of Educational Reform, v4 n1 p46-50 Jan 1995
Since universities must reflect both an academic and business orientation, a conflict of values is possible. Americans differ from Europeans in choosing a distinguished academic president with a strong business orientation and giving that individual complete control over both sides of the institution. Supported by professors appointed as pro-vice chancelors, the British vice chancellor plays a similar role. (10 references) (MLH)
