A Seattle sixth grader's confusion about her teacher's expectations led to the creation of a new evaluation technique that lets students set the standards and grade themselves. After explaining what was necessary to achieve a "C" on certain projects, the teacher allowed students to decide what must be accomplished to receive a higher grade. (MLH)
