Listening Preferences of Traditional and Nontraditional College Students and Their Relationship to Instruction.
Furio, Brian J.; Kafka, Jennifer S.
New Jersey Journal of Communication, v4 n1 p99-107 Spr 1996
Explores listener preference as an explanation for differences in traditional and nontraditional students' learning and listening orientations in the college classroom. Indicates partial support for this perspective in that traditional students prefer a people-oriented listening style while nontraditional students are more likely to utilize an action-oriented style. Discusses enhancing the classroom environment through appropriate instructional behaviors. (PA)
