Conducted a study to determine what students can do with information presented in class about moles, molecules, atoms, gram atomic weight, Avogadro's number, and molar mass. Results indicate that the students had significant difficulty making effective use of the information about the number of atoms in a molecule provided by the subscript in a chemical formula. (JRH)
