Assessing Secondary Students' Liking of Short Stories.

The development of a survey designed to assess secondary students' liking of particular stories is explained. Analysis of students' written explanations for liking favorite readings identified three aspects of liking. A survey operationalizing these aspects was administered to 118 high school students. Findings indicate that the survey is valid for its purpose. (SM)
