The Free Educational Prison: Metaphors and Images.

Metaphorical images of students, teachers, principals, and schools were gathered from 409 students and 254 educators and administrators. The patterns that emerged underscored a simultaneous view of the open educational character of schooling and its imprisoning effect. A significant discrepancy was found between students' perceptions of themselves, educators, and schools and of educators' perceptions of students. (JOW)
