The Expanding Role of the State in Canadian Universities: Can University Autonomy and Accountability Be Reconciled?
George, Peter J.; McAllister, James A.
Higher Education Management, v7 n3 p309-21 Nov 1995
An examination of trends in university-government relationships in Canada looks briefly at the situations in five provinces recently undergoing reviews of their higher education systems (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba), and details the circumstances in Ontario, which has the largest provincial system of higher education. A self-regulatory framework for the future is proposed. (Author/MSE)
