Perceptions about Special Olympics from Service Delivery Groups in the United States: A Preliminary Investigation.
Porretta, David L.; And Others
Education and Training in Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, v31 n1 p44-54 Mar 1996
Agencies (n=117) providing services to individuals with disabilities were surveyed regarding professional terminology, philosophy, programs, and perceptions of Special Olympics. Results suggest that Special Olympics should place more emphasis on inclusion opportunities and provide opportunities for a wider variety of individuals with disabilities to participate. The term "mental retardation" was found to be declining in usage. (Author/PB)
