Inclusive Elementary Programs: Must They Cure Students with Learning Disabilities to Be Effective?
McLeskey, James; Waldron, Nancy L.
Phi Delta Kappan, v77 n4 p300-03 Dec 1995
A recent "Kappan" article by Naomi Zigmond and associates concludes that results from three major, federally funded research projects showed that restructured, inclusive elementary schools produce unacceptable and undesirable outcomes for a significant proportion of learning-disabled students. However, the authors' program-effectiveness standards are unreasonably high. More inclusion research is needed. (18 references) (MLH)
