Effects of Cooperative Incentives and Heterogeneous Arrangement on Achievement and Interaction of Cooperative Learning Groups in a College Life Science Course.
Watson, Scott B.; Marshall, James E.
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v32 n3 p291-99 Mar 1995
Used multiple-choice instruments and classroom observations of elementary education majors (n=116) to examine the importance of cooperative incentives and heterogeneous grouping in cooperative learning. Results indicate no differences in the achievement of students in the group accountability and individual accountability conditions and do not support the use of either cooperative incentives or heterogeneous grouping.
