The Relationship between High School Students' Perceptions of Teaching as a Career and Selected Background Characteristics: Implications for Attracting Students of Color to Teaching.
Newby, Diane; And Others
Urban Review, v27 n3 p235-47 Sep 1995
Determines what influence high school students' background characteristics have on their perceptions of teaching as a career. Responses from 800 students show few were interested in pursuing a teaching career, except Native Americans and African Americans; females valued teaching more than males; and the more senior the student became, the more teaching was valued as a career option.
