The Cultural Context of Talk about the Past: Implications for the Development of Autobiographical Memory.
Mullen, Mary K.; Yi, Soonhyung
Cognitive Development, v10 n3 p407-19 Jul-Sep 1995
Examined cultural influences on young children's talk about their experiences, and the role these discussions may play in the development of autobiographical memory. Found that Caucasian families engage more frequently in this kind of talk than Korean families. Caucasian adults reporting earlier childhood memories indicated that early linguistic experience may be related to the development of autobiographical memory. (AA)
