The Uses and Limitations of Personal or Personalized Writing in Writing Theory, Research, and Instruction.
Stotsky, Sandra
Reading Research Quarterly, v30 n4 p758-76 Oct-Dec 1995
Discusses the rationale and uses for personal or personalized writing in composition, literature, and content-area classes, and in curriculum conceptualization, research, and assessment in writing. Discusses relevant research studies and pedagogical criticisms of these kinds of writing assignments. Suggests that an excessive emphasis on personal writing is not warranted. Argues for a balance between ideocentric and personal writing. (RS)
