Attitude Accessibility and Motivation as Determinants of Biased Processing: A Test of the MODE Model.
Schuette, Robert A.; Fazio, Russell H.
Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, v21 n7 p704-10 Jul 1995
Examined hypothesis that attitude accessibility and motivational level moderate the relation between attitudes and information processing. Found that the attitude/judgment relation depended on both attitude accessibility and motivation. Only subjects who reiterated their attitude and who lacked motivation to consider the information thoroughly judged empirical studies in attitudinally congruent fashions. (RJM)
