Attributions and Discrimination: A Study of Attributions to the Self, the Group, and External Factors among Whites, Blacks, and Cubans in Miami.
Moghaddam, Fathali M.; And Others
Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, v26 n2 p209-20 Mar 1995
Examined the self-protective role of social attributions by comparing individual attributions made to the self, to one's ethnic group, and to factors external to oneself. Results from 309 Black, Hispanic, and White mothers show they all attributed positive outcomes to themselves, while Whites attributed failure to themselves personally. Middle- and lower-class groups attributed failure more to external factors. (GR)
