Literature and Learning to Think.
Langer, Judith A.
Journal of Curriculum and Supervision, v10 n3 p207-26 Spr 1995
The current national focus on students' thinking is too narrow, limiting the kinds of reasoning activities they can experience. A literary orientation allows students to explore a horizon of possibilities concerned with emotions, relationships, motives, and reactions. Students generalize beyond the particular situation, using their understandings to reflect on their own lives and the human condition. (28 references) (MLH)
