Globalisation of the World Economy and Its Impact upon Employment and Training in Australia.
Maglen, Leo
Australian Bulletin of Labour, v20 n4 p298-319 Dec 1994
In the globalized world economy three types of jobs are emerging: routine production, in-person service, and symbolic analysis. In Australia, routine production is still the largest category, females outnumber males in service, and only one in five are symbolic analysts, predominantly male. Vocational education and training must change focus and emphasize a dynamic perspective that stresses generic skills, adaptability, and problem solving. (SK)
