Preservice Teachers' Attitudes toward Children: Implications for Teacher Education.

Results from a teacher attitude questionnaire given to 1,405 preservice teachers (95% response) revealed large differences in attitudes toward children, associated with age, gender, and major. The most positive were females in elementary, least positive males in secondary. Those in special education were most positive, in music, art, and physical education least positive. Whether these attitudes manifest themselves in the classroom remains unknown. (SK)
