A survey of 130 trustees, presidents, and other higher education executives found that they ranked public opinion toward higher education, changing demographics, and family income and savings rates as the top external trends in higher education. The top-ranked institutional issues included tuition policy and financing; productivity and cost control; and mission, strategy, planning; and budgeting. (MDM)
