First-Year Teaching: Instability-Reducing Behavior and Student Failure.
Barkhuizen, Gary P.
Linguistics and Education, v6 n2 p99-119 1994
The nature of the relationship between a first-year English-as-a-Second-Language teacher and her limited-English-speaking Chinese student is examined in a study of interactional patterns that affect student success. It is suggested that providing teachers with techniques for self-observation could help make them more aware of their teaching contexts. (28 references) (Author/LB)
