Contingency Awareness in Infants and Children with Severe and Profound Learning Disabilities.
O'Brien, Yvonne; And Others
International Journal of Disability, Development and Education, v41 n3 p231-43 1994

Increased responses and positive emotional effects, which were reversed when their control was eliminated, suggested that infants with mental ages as young as two months can detect cause and effect relationships.
