Interdisciplinary Teams Lead to Greater Teacher Empowerment.
Husband, Ronald E.; Short, Paula M.
Middle School Journal, v26 n2 p58-61 Nov 1994
Investigates the relationship between teaming and empowerment by comparing the perceived empowerment of middle-school teachers working in departmentalized organizations to those of teachers working on interdisciplinary teams. Interdisciplinary team members felt significantly more empowered in all six factors (decision-making, professional growth, status, self-efficacy, autonomy, and impact) than departmentally organized teachers. Results parallel findings for self-directed teams in business or industry. (15 references) (MLH)
