Meeting Affective Needs through Summer Academic Experiences.

A survey of 82 western U.S. academically able students (ages 10-15) compared respondents' regular classroom affective experiences to affective experiences at a 3-week summer institute for the gifted. Responses indicated that students found intellectual peers at the institute and felt good about their social behavior. Activities that promote affective growth should be replicated in regular classrooms. (JDD)
