Research on the Effects of Group Standardized Testing on Instruction, Pupils, and Teachers: New Directions for Policy.
Charlesworth, Rosalind; And Others
Early Education and Development, v5 n3 p195-212 Jul 1994
Since the late 1960s, curriculum and instruction have increasingly become "test driven." Research documents the negative effects of standardized testing on instruction, students, and teachers. At their best, tests reflect students' ability to take tests. Research supports the need for change in testing policies. Massive testing must be eliminated, and more authentic and performance-based evaluation should be instituted. (TM)
